On November 10, 1999 at approximately 10:05 p.m., deputies were dispatched to 1131 Nutrias Rd. SW in response to a shooting. Deputies found victim Servando Bustillos lying behind a parked Ford truck in the driveway. The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the chest. He was transported to a local hospital where he died.
On January 16, 1988 at approximately 2:30 p.m., victim Cecelia K. Barrett was found by local hunters in the forest land inside Tunnel Canyon off south highway 14. The victim was found fully clothed lying under a tree in a very isolated area. There were obvious signs of trauma to her neck caused by strangulation. Cecelia Barrett was 55 years old at the time of her murder.
Sandra Miller left home to go to the store and never returned. On October 6, 1987, her husband reported her missing to police. The body of Sandra Miller was discovered in an open space area north of 1300 Central Avenue NW on October 28, 1987. Sandra died of a single gunshot wound.
On April 4, 1987 21 year old Gary Luna was shot and stabbed by known associates in an area beneath the westbound I-40 overpass. He was transported to the University of New Mexico Hospital where he was listed in critical condition. The victim was hospitalized for approximately 6 weeks when he died of complications from his initial wounds.
During the afternoon of March 21, 1998 a group of young men were riding their motorcycles off-road, when one of the males noticed what appeared to be a partially buried body. The body was located in the Arroyo at the 1000 block of Los Picaros SE in Albuquerque. The victim was later identified as Cecilia Velasquez, formerly of Silver City, NM. Cecilia resided at Joy Junction while in the Albuquerque area, and had previously been treated for mental illness. Prior to her death, Cecilia was in the company of a male companion. Victim Cecilia Velasquez died of blunt force trauma to the head and neck.
