Criminal Investigations Division

On October 15, 1990 the body of Carolyn S. Gonzales was found stabbed multiple times and laying in an irrigation drain in the 500 block of Barr Avenue SW.

April 5, 1995, 25 year old Robert Saavedra aka “Spanky” was shot as he walked with a friend on Rosendo Garcia SW.  It is believed the shots were fired from a vehicle. Robert was transported to a local hospital where he died.

ALICE MOORE-DOWNING  Case Number  89-2826

On January 10, 1989, a woman’s body was discovered off a dirt road at east highway NM 333. The body was later identified as 41-year old Alice Moore-Downing, who died of multiple stab wounds.

On November 28, 1993, deputies were dispatched to a home where 20 year old Joe Cauley was shot when a fight erupted during a house party.  Joe was transported to a local hospital where he later died of his injuries.

On June 22, 1996, victim Joseph Hernandez was transported to a local hospital after being shot outside the Drift In Lounge. Suspects fled the initial crime scene in an 80’s Blazer or Bronco style SUV. Joseph Hernandez died from his gunshot wounds.
